Ujjain, April 15: Eleven members of one family were killed on friday afternoon when the jeep they were travelling in collided with a dumper truck in Ujjain. According to police the incident took place on Agra road, some 20 kilometer away from Ujjain where the victims belonging to Paliwal family of Mahidpur town in Ujjain were on their way to take part in Kumbh Mela in Simhasta.Also Read - 4 Men Brutally Thrash & Kick Their Friend in MP's Rewa, Record Video With 'Pawri Ho Rahi Hai' Meme | Watch

The head on collision of dumper truck with the jeep resulted death of five members on one family died on spot. Whereas six others succumbed to their injuries at the district hospital during treatment. Three women and one minor were among the deceased. According to reports both – the dumper and jeep – gutted fire and the victims present inside the jeep were charred to death. However the driver of the dumper escaped death and fled from the spot. The police said that the incident took place at around 3 PM and both the vehicles were moving at relatively high speed. Villagers who first spotted the accident rushed to help the victim and with great difficulty they were able to extricate six injured members. The locals then took the injured to the district hospital which is around 30 km from the accident spot. After reaching the hospital the injured were declared dead. The bodies of the victims have been sent for postmortem to ascertain the facts.

The driver of the truck, who fled from the spot has not been identified yet but a case under section 304 (negligence) of IPC for culpable homicide not amounting to murder has been registered at Ragvi police station in Ujjain. Meanwhile the local police there had called the truck owner for questioning.
