New Delhi, Jul 9: A 40-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped by four persons in the forest area of Betul district in Madhya Pradesh, news agency ANI reported. The incident took place on Saturday, July 7. Police have registered a case under sections 376 (Punishment for rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code and Atrocities Act. On Saturday, a 14-year-old girl was also gang-raped by three persons in Chhatarpur district of Khajuraho. The police had conducted the victim’s medical examination. In another incident, an eight-year-old girl was abducted from her school in Hafiz Colony and was gang-raped at her house in Mandsaur. Taking note of the matter, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan condemned the incident and said that the accused should be hanged till death. The Chief Minister said, “The rape that happened in Mandsaur has shocked everyone. We all want that people who committed such a heinous crime be hanged to death. Human rights are for humans, not for the devils. This case should be resolved through fast track.”

Two accused in the case have been arrested. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) was also constituted to further investigate the matter. Protests erupted in Mandsaur following the incident, with demands for death punishment for the culprits.
