New Delhi: Congress will be announcing its first list of candidates contesting in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly Election 2018, scheduled to be held in a single phase on November 28, 2018. State Party President Kamal Nath talking to reporters said, “Discussions were held over 40 names. Till now, the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and Samajwadi Party (SP) had announced their candidates for the Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections. BSP had announced 22 candidates and said that it will contest all 230 seats. While SP had fielded its six candidates Sidhi, Paraswada, Balaghat, Niwari, Panna, and Budhni. The BJP and the Congress will face head-on in Madhya Pradesh which has 230 Vidhan Sabha seats. The BJP is in power in Madhya Pradesh for three consecutive terms. The Model Code of Conduct came into force with immediate effect in the four states including Madhya Pradesh.



In Madhya Pradesh, the notification will be issued on November 2 while the last date for nominations would be November 9. Scrutiny will be done on November 12 and the last date of withdrawal will be November 14.

The Madhya Pradesh Assembly Election 2018, scheduled to be held in a single phase on November 28, 2018. On October 6, the election commission had announced dates for the Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Mizoram and Telangana Assembly elections 2018. The commission said that the counting of votes will take place on December 11.

The BJP has been in power in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh. In Rajasthan, the party has 160 seats in the 200-member House while in Madhya Pradesh, it won 166 seats in the House.
