New Delhi: Days ahead of the crucial Madhya Pradesh Assembly election 2018, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Giriraj Singh who is known for making controversial statement has posted a video of senior Congress leader Kamal Nath in which the latter can be allegedly seen endorsing candidates with criminal records. Notably, Nath is one of the prime contenders as the Congress’ CM candidate for the upcoming polls in the state.

“Some people say that this man has five criminal cases on him. I say, let it be six. All I want is a person who can achieve victory,” the president of Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC), Kamal Nath said in the video tweeted by the Union Minister. “Take Kamal Nath ji to Tihar jail, Congress can find its candidate there,” Singh captioned the video.

Quoting the video, Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan took a dig at Congress party and said,”This is their politics. People are wise, they will decide on November 28 whom to vote.”

Soon after Chouhan’s tweet, Congress spokesperson Priyanka Chaturvedi took to the micro-blogging site and referred the video as ‘doctored’. She claimed that the video is an attempt by the chief minister to divert people’s attention from real issues.

Madhya Pradesh will go to polls on November 28. The counting of votes will be held on December 11. The tenure of 230-member state Assembly ends on January 7, 2019.
