Patwari was taken into preventive custody by the police and was later released after which he met the newly-appointed state Congress chief DK Shivakumar.
Addressing a press conference, the Congress alleged that the rebel MLAs had been taken ‘hostage’ by the BJP and warned that if the police didn’t take action and release the MLAs, the party would have to take the matter to the Supreme Court.
In a tweet, the Madhya Pradesh unit of the party, too, requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to ‘not embarrass the country anymore.’
