The major national parties which contested the elections were Indian National Congress (INC) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Counting of votes for the Madhya Pradesh Assembly election 2018 is underway and the trends are starting to surface. A single phase election for the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly took place on November 28, 2018 amidst heavy security. The major national parties which contested the elections were Indian National Congress (INC) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Ashta: In 2013, BJP’s Ranjeet Singh Gunwan had defeated Congress’ Gopal Singh Engineer. The BJP candidate had bagged 84252 votes while the Congress candidate had garnered 78748 votes. . For 2018 polls, BJP has fielded Raghunath Malviya and Congress has fielded Gopal Singh.
Agar (Gopal Parmar): In 2013, BJP’s Manohar Oontwal had defeated Congress’ Madhav Singh. The BJP candidate had bagged 83726 votes while the Congress candidate had bagged 54867 votes. For 2018 polls, the BJP has fielded Manohar Oontwal and Congress has retained Vipin Wankhede.
Shajapur: In 2013, BJP’s Arun Bhimawad had defeated Congress’ Karada Hukum Singh. Bhimawad had bagged 76911 votes while Singh had bagged 74973 votes. For 2018 polls, BJP has retained Bhimawad while Congress has retained Karada Hukum Singh.
Shujalpur: BJP’s Jaswantsingh Hada had won the seat by garnering 56637 votes in 2013 Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections. He had defeated Congress’ Mahendra Joshi. For 2018 polls, BJP has fielded Inder Singh Parmar while Congress has fielded Ranweer Sikarwar
Kalapipal: In 2013, BJP’s Indersingh Parmar had won the seat by defeating Congress’ Kedarsingh Mandloi. For 2018 polls, BJP has fielded Babulal Verma and Congress has fielded Kunal Choudhary.
Sonkatch: In 2013, BJP’s Rajendra Phulchand Verma had defeated Congress’ Arjun Verma and had registered thumping victory from Sonkatch Vidhan Sabha seat. For 2018 polls, BJP has retained Verma and Congress has fielded Sajjan Singh Verma.
Dewas: In 2013, BJP’s Tukojirao Pawar had registered thumping victory from Dewas Vidhan Sabha seat. He had defeated Congress’ Rekha Verma by a huge margin of votes. For 2018, the BJP has fielded Gayatri Raje Pawar and Congress has fielded Thakur Jay Singh.
Hatpipliya: In 2013, BJP’s Deepak Kailash Joshi had defeated Congress’ Rajendra Singh Baghel from Hatpipliya Vidhan Sabha seat. For 2018 polls, the BJP has retained Joshi and Congress has fielded Manoj Choudhari.
