The major national parties which contested the elections were Indian National Congress (INC) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Counting of votes for the Madhya Pradesh Assembly election 2018 has begun and first trends are expected to pour in an hour or so. A single phase election for the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly took place on November 28, 2018 amidst heavy security. The major national parties which contested the elections were Indian National Congress (INC) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Nagada-Khachrod: BJP’s Dilip Singh defeated Congress’ Dilip Gurjar from Nagada-Khachrod in the 2013 Assembly elections by a margin of 16,000 votes. For 2018 polls, BJP has fielded Dilip Singh Shekhawat and Congress has retained Gurjar. Five Independent candidates Kailash Chandra Ahirwar, Jagdish Chawda, Mahesh, Rashid Mohhmad Shekh, Riyaj Mohammed are also in fray.
Mahidpur: In the 2013 Assembly elections, BJP’s Bahadur Singh had defeated Congress’ Dinesh Jain by a margin of 20,000 votes. For 2018 polls, BJP has fielded Bahadur Singh Chouhan and Congress has fielded Sardar Singh Chouhan.
Tarana: In the 2013 Assembly elections, BJP’s Anil Firojiya had defeated Congress’ Rajendra Radhakishan Malviya by a margin of 16,000 votes. For 2018 polls, BJP has fielded Firojiya and Congress has fielded Mahesh Parmar. This Vidhan Sabha seat is reserved for Scheduled Castes (SC) candidates.
Ghatiya: In the 2013 Assembly elections, BJP’s Satish Malviya had defeated Congress’ Ramlal Malviya by a margin of 17,000 votes. For 2018 polls, the Bharatiya Janata Party has fielded Ajit Premchand Guddu while the Congress party has retained Ramlal Malviya. Bahujan Sangharshh Dal’s Nirbhay Singh and Independent candidates Akash Ashok Parmar, Champalal Parmar, Deepak Ambaram Sonavaniya, Bablu, Shantilal Deshwal (BAIRWA) are also in fray this time.
Ujjain Uttar: In 2013 Assembly elections, BJP’s Paraschandra Jain had defeated Congress’ Vivek Jagdish Yadav by a margin of 24,000 votes. For 2018 polls, Bharatiya Janata Party has fielded Paras Jain and Congress has fielded Mhanat Rajendra Bharti. Three Independent candidates Dinesh Mangilal Panwar, Maya Rajesh Trivedi and Virendra Bhaiya are also in fray.
Ujjain Dakshin (South): The constituency of Ujjain Dakshin is a part of Madhya Pradesh’s Ujjain district. In 2013 Assembly elections, BJP’s Mohan Yadav had defeated Congress’ Jaysingh Darbar by a margin of 9,600 votes. For 2018 polls, BJP has retained Yadav and Congress has fielded Rajendra Vashishtha (Raju Bhaiya).
Badnagar: This constituency is a part of Madhya Pradesh’s Ujjain district. In 2013, BJP’s Mukesh Pandya had defeated Congress’ Mahesh Patel by a margin of 13,000 votes. For 2018 polls, Bharatiya Janata Party has fielded Sanjay Sharma and Congress has nominated Murli Morwal.
Alot: This seat is reserved for Scheduled Caste (SC) candidates. In 2013, BJP’s Jitendra Thavarchand Gehlot had registered thumping victory by garnering 73449 votes. He had defeated Ajit Premchand Guddu. For 2018 polls, BJP has retained Gehlot and Congress has fielded Manoj Chawla.
