Madhya Pradesh: Mid-day Meal Cook Pours Hot Dal on Class 1 Boy After he Asks For More
During the lunch break, the boy Prince reportedly asked the cook for an extra serving. The cook, Nemvati Bai, got furious on the boy's request and threw hot dal at him.
Dindori (Madhya Pradesh), Jan 30: A class 1 student received burn injuries on his face, chest, and back after a mid-day meal cook poured piping hot dal (lentil curry) at the boy when he asked for more. During the lunch break, the boy Prince reportedly asked the cook for an extra serving. The cook, Nemvati Bai, got furious on the boy’s request and threw hot dal at him.
“Prince said when he asked for dal, she purposely threw it on him,” the boy’s grandmother alleged.
The incident was reported last week in a primary school in Ludra village of tribal Dindori district in Madhya Pradesh. “The incident took place on January 23. They approached us on January 24,” news agency ANI quoted a police officer.
Parents of the boy alleged that the cook Nemwati Bai deliberately threw dal at their son as she was upset with him for some unknown reason. Denying the allegation, the cook said that it happened accidentally when he came running. The cook claimed that she told one of her seniors about the incident. The senior, however, denied having any information about the same.
The victim’s father alleged that the school did not provide any first-aid to his son. He also alleged that no action was taken by the local police.
