Dindori (Madhya Pradesh), Jan 30: A class 1 student received burn injuries on his face, chest, and back after a mid-day meal cook poured piping hot dal (lentil curry) at the boy when he asked for more. During the lunch break, the boy Prince reportedly asked the cook for an extra serving. The cook, Nemvati Bai, got furious on the boy’s request and threw hot dal at him. The incident was reported last week in a primary school in Ludra village of tribal Dindori district in Madhya Pradesh.  “The incident took place on January 23. Parents of the boy alleged that the cook Nemwati Bai deliberately threw dal at their son as she was upset with him for some unknown reason. Denying the allegation, the cook said that it happened accidentally when he came running. The cook claimed that she told one of her seniors about the incident. The senior, however, denied having any information about the same.

The victim’s father alleged that the school did not provide any first-aid to his son. He also alleged that no action was taken by the local police.
