Gwalior: Madhya Pradesh Woman and Child Development Minister Imarti Devi failed to read her Republic Day speech at Gwalior on Saturday. After hoisting the Indian national flag, Imarti Devi read a few lines and handed over sheets to the district collector.
In the video, Imarti Devi can be heard saying ‘Ab Collector Saab padhenge’ (now the collector will read). The collector, Bharat Yadav continued reading the rest of the speech. Following the incident, Devi said that she was not keeping well for the past two days.
“I was sick for the past two days, you can ask the doctor. But it is okay. the collector read it (the speech) properly,” Devi said.
Imarti Devi was elected member to the to the 13th Assembly, in 2008. From 2008-2011, she was a member of the Library Committee and a member of the Committee of Welfare of Women and Children from 2011-2014. She was also the patron of the Anusuchit Jati/Janjati Hit Raksha Sangh.
Devi had taken oath as the Woman and Child Development Minister earlier last month after Chief Minister Kamal Nath allocated 28 new ministers for the state.
As per reports, officials said that she has to be more careful while signing government documents and important projects. This is her third term in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly. She has also held several posts in the youth Congress committee in Gwalior.
