Bhopal: A doctor in Madhya Pradesh, accused of killing his servant and later chopping his body into pieces, was on Wednesday arrested by the police from Anand Nagar area of Hoshangabad district.

The accused, identified as Dr Sunil Mantri, took the extreme step in a fit of rage over servant’s objection to his (doctor’s) relation with his (servant’s) wife. The incident came to light on Tuesday on the complaint of doctor’s neighbour.

During interrogation, Mantri, who was posted as a medical officer at Government Civil Hospital in Itarsi town, confessed that he had planned to kill the servant, identified as Virendra Pachouri, a long time ago and even stored a drum full of acid and hand-saws at his home.

The doctor reportedly killed the servant on Monday evening after injecting him a sedative. Later, he dragged him inside the bathroom where he slit his throat. Following this, the accused chopped the body into at least 500 pieces with a saw and disposed those into pots and utensils filled with acid.

“Mantri’s wife used to run a boutique at their home. However after her death, Pachouri’s wife started running it. The driver suspected Mantri was in an illicit relationship with his wife and so he allowed her to run it,” Superintendent of Police Arvind Saxena told PTI.

The police was intimated about the heinous crime by doctor’s neighbour. On reaching the spot, the team recovered an acid-filled drum. The role of servant’s wife in the murder is also being probed.
