New Delhi: A tug of war has ensued over Madhya Pradesh MLAs as both the BJP and the Congress are readying for an inevitable show of strength in the Assembly. Six rebel ministers — Tulsi Silawat, Govind Singh Rajput, Mahendra Singh Sisodia Imarti Devi, Dr Prabhuram Choudhart and Pradyumna Singh Tomar — released video messages saying they are with Jyotiraditya Scindia after claims were made that they contacted the Kaman Nath camp saying that they were forced to resign. Thirteen of the 22 rebel Congress MLAs in Madhya Pradesh don’t want to quit the party and were led away only to create pressure on the leadership to nominate Jyotiraditya Scindia to the Rajya Sabha, senior party leader Digvijaya Singh claimed on Wednesday. He also asserted that the Kamal Nath-led government in the state, pushed to the brink of collapse with the resignation of 22 MLAs, will win a floor test. Labour Minister Mahendra Singh Sisodia said in the clip, “Jyotiraditya Scindia has not indulged in betrayal. Rather the Congress and Kamal Nathji have betrayed him. With the hard labour put in by Scindiaji, Congress came to power in MP after 15 years. He and his people were neglected saying that the coffers were empty. In contrast, Rs 12,000 crore were put in Chhindwara constituency (of CM Kamal Nath). Are other MLAs and ministers worthless?” he asked.
Jyotiraditya Scindia joined the BJP on Wednesday and was offered a Rajya Sabha ticket.
As the future of the Congress government in Madhya Pradesh is on tenterhooks, the party claimed it has enough support as many MLAs were misguided or forced to resign. “We all are in Bengaluru out of our own wish and with the blessings of Shrimant (Mr Scindia). It is a good decision (to join BJP) and if he is taking us to any place or our Maharaj says or I myself feel the need to fall into a well then I will do so and will remain with him,” minister Imarti Devi said.
“If Maharaj (Mr Scindia) asks me or I myself feel that I need to jump into a well then I will do so for Maharaj,” the minister said.
