Mumbai: A two-year-old boy was allegedly sacrificed for ‘hidden treasure’ at a village in Brahmapuri tehsil of Chandrapur district in Maharashtra. Two have been arrested in connection with the matter.

The incident was reported from Khandala village and the victim has been identified. As per reports, he went missing on August 22 while playing along with his elder brother. A complaint about the matter was lodged by his father at Bramhpuri police station.

During investigation, the police found that two neighbours of the family – Sunil and Pramod Bankar – practised black magic. As the probe continued, the body of the minor was recovered from a haystack behind the latter’s residence. On questioning, the duo agreed to committing the crime.

As per the police, the minor fell victim to the blind faith of the duo. He had three whirls in his hair due to which he was ideal for the sacrifice, they believed.

The duo committed the crime on the night of August 23. Before sacrificing the boy, they reportedly performed black magic. They had planned to dispose off the body in the nearby river but couldn’t as the day broke so they hid the body inside a haystack.

The police have booked the accused under relevant sections of Anti – superstition and Black magic Act and section 302 of the IPC, a report said.
