The results of the high-octane Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2024 made it clear that the Mahayuti will form the government. The Mahayuti won the election with a massive majority of 234 seats. The ruling Mahayuti alliance of chief minister Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Nationalist Congress Party (Ajit Pawar camp) won 230 seats. On the other hand, the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance, comprising the Congress and the breakaway faction of the Sena and NCP failed to perform as they won only 46 seats. The BJP had contested 149 seats, Shiv Sena 81 seats, and the Ajit Pawar-led NCP had fielded candidates in 59 constituencies. In the opposition alliance, the Congress had fielded 101 candidates, Shiv Sena (UBT) 95, and the NCP (SP) 86.
