Lonavala, April 4: Two engineering students were hacked to death on Monday in the Maharashtra’s hilly region of Lonavala. The deceased – a boy and a girl, were stripped by some unidentified men who had tied their hands before killing them with a sharp object. The duo were found near the Tiger point close to the Air Force station.

As per the cops, they were either murdered on Sunday evening or in the early hours of Monday morning and after stripping the two students the unidentified people had dumped their bodies in the forest area.  The 22-year-old boy hailed from Rahuri in Ahmednagar and was pursuing his engineering from the Sinhgad Engineering College, while his female friend was a native of Otur in Pune and had taken up a course in computer studies in the same institute.

As per Times of India, the 21-year-old girl used to stay at college hostel while her male friend used to live in Bhangarwadi area. Police have informed the parents of both the students. Inspector Chandrakant Jadhav of quoted by TOI saying that the motive behind the murder is not yet ascertained and a resident of Lonavla saw the two dead bodies while passing on Monday noon.

According to a report on Hindustan Times, with the help of Aadhaar cards, and driving licence the cops were able to identify the two and also the cops found a bike which belonged to the 22-year-old student. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem and more details will come out after it.

A case has been lodged under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against the unidentified people.
