The budget session of Maharashtra Assembly began on February 26. The session will end on March 28. Six days have been earmarked for the debate on Budget. Sudhir Mungantiwar will present Maharashtra Budget amid a tightening fiscal space following the announcement of populist measures like farm loan waiver due to the agrarian crisis in the state.

The Maharashtra Budget 2018-19 could have an allocation for an increased wage bill for 1.7 million state government employees and 6.5 lakh pensioners as per the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission.
