Mumbai, Jun 1: Ten people died and three others were left injured in a road accident in Maharashtra’s Yavatmal during wee hours on Friday. The car-truck collision was reported from Arni area. Police are present at the spot. Meanwhile, further details in connection with the incident are awaited.

In a similar incident, two persons were killed while 18 injured in a road accident at Belona village in Kalamb tehsil near Yavatmal on Wednesday. The accident happend when a ST bus en route to Nagpur collided head-on with a speeding two-wheeler and turned turtle.

According to eye-witnesses, the bus was going at high speed. It hit a bike in a bid to overtake it, lost control and turned turtle.

Latest data available on ‘Road Crash Statistics 2016’ – a study by SaveLIFE Foundation – claimed that a total of 17 people in India die on Indian roads every hour. In another startling revelation, it said that 13 lakh people have been killed in road crashes over the past decade. The report said that the key factors responsible for road crashes in India are bad road- user behaviour.
