Mumbai: Police arrested five persons, including a woman, for allegedly framing a plan to extort a hefty sum of Rs 25 crores from a Bollywood producer. The accused had blackmailed of leaking a porn video of the filmmaker’s father in case he does not meet their demand.

Reportedly, the filmmaker, identified as Anil (40), began looking for a therapist after his 68-year-old father Dhanraj Sindhi, a Parkinson’s patient, was prescribed massage sessions. Soon, the family got in touch with therapist Lucky Mishra (32) and the treatment began in October and continued till December 2018.

On January 15, Dhanraj was contacted by one Rahul Shukla, who posed himself as a YouTube channel staff, over phone. He allegedly blackmailed the 68-year-old of leaking a pornographic clip of his if he failed to give him Rs 25 crore. However, the caller disconnected the call on receiving a negative response from the other side.

The matter came to light when Anil filed a complaint in this regard at the Amboli police station on February 16. As per a report in The Times of India, he informed the police that a friend of his called him up to inform that five persons contacted him saying that they had video clippings of his (Anil) father in compromising situations and if their extortion demand is not met then they would release the videos on their online portal.

The police sprung into action after the complaint and laid a trap to nab the accused. On February 21, a team, led by Additional Commissioner of Police (west) Manoj Sharma, caught the five accused when they had come to meet Anil at an eatery in Lokhandwala to receive their initial instalment of Rs 5 lakh.

The five accused involved in the matter were identified as Lucky, Hussain Makarani (36), Yuvraj Chavan (30), Rehman Shaikh (45), and Keval Ramkumar (60).

A case has been registered against the accused under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for extortion, and section 67A of the IT Act for transmitting sexually explicit content.
