Mumbai City Centre Mall Fire: 2 Injured, 3500 Rescued; Firefighting Operation Underway | Latest Updates

New Delhi: Two fire personnel were injured during the firefighting operation at the City Centre Mall in Nagpada area of south Mumbai. Notably, a massive blaze had erupted in the mall last night at around 8.53 pm. Also Read - Urmila Matondkar to Join Shiv Sena Today, Year After Quitting Congress

24 fire engines, 16 jumbo tankers, and 250 fire brigade personnel were engaged in the operation to douse the flames at the ground plus four-storey mall, the official said. Also Read - Three Dead, Six Injured as Bus Catches Fire After Touching High-tension Wire in Jaipur

This was the second fire in the city on Thursday. Earlier in the day, a fire had broken out in a garment factory at Kurla West. It was doused after more than two hours.

According to fire brigade officials, the exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. Locals said that the mall mainly houses shops selling mobile phone accessories.

Initially, it was categorized as level 1 (minor), later the fire was upgraded to level-5.

On the other hand, a 55-storey building adjacent to the mall was evacuated and its residents have been shifted to nearby grounds for safety purposes.
