Maharashtra allows 10,000 more devotees to visit Shirdi shrine per day with offline passes.

Mumbai: Looking at the decreasing number of corona cases in the state, the Ahmednagar District administration on Tuesday issued fresh unlock guidelines and allowed the reopening of Shirdi Sai Baba Temple and Shani Shingnapur Temple from October 7.

Issuing fresh guidelines, Ahmednagar District Collector Dr Rajendra B Bhosale said only 15,000 devotees will be allowed in Shirdi Sai Baba temple in a day and 20,000 devotees in Shani Shingnapur temple will be allowed at the moment.

Full list of guidelines:

1. As per the fresh guidelines, the temple administration will provide the facility of 5,000 paid passes, 5,000 online and 5,000 offline passes for the devotees.
2. According to updates, over 1,150 devotees will be allowed to enter the Sai temple every hour.
3. On the other hand, only 90 devotees will be given entry for every aarti in the temples.
4. However, it is must for the devotees to wear masks.
5. The administration said that the facility of coming from entrance number 2 as well as exit from the number 4 and 5 has been given.
6. Not all temples have been allowed to open this time.
7. The Dhyan Mandir and Parayan Kaksh will remain closed.
8. As per the order, pregnant women, children below 10 years of age and people above 65 years are not allowed to enter the temple.

The development comes as the state on Mionday recorded 2,026 fresh COVID-19 cases, the lowest after February 2, and 26 fatalities, taking the tally of infections to 65,62,514 and the death toll to 1,39,233.

With 5,389 patients discharged from hospitals in the last 24 hours, the number of recoveries in Maharashtra rose to 63,86,059, leaving the state with 33,637 active cases. At 339, Mumbai reported the highest number of COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours in Maharashtra and two fatalities.

Among the eight regions of Maharashtra, the Mumbai region reported the highest 657 COVID-19 cases, followed by 650 cases in the Pune region.

Nashik region reported 414 new cases, Kolhapur region 192, Latur region 58, Aurangabad region 42, Akola region eight and Nagpur region five cases.

Among the 26 COVID-19 fatalities from the eight regions, the highest 15 deaths were reported from the Pune region, followed by seven deaths in the Kolhapur region and four in the Mumbai region.

Last month, the state government said that the places of worship will reopen in Maharashtra from October 7, the first day of Navratri and added that the COVID-19 safety rules would be followed.

“All places of worship will reopen for devotees from the first day of Navaratri, i.e., 7th October 2021, while observing all COVID safety protocols,” Thackeray’s office tweeted.

The move comes as the Maharashtra government has been facing protests by the BJP over not opening temples, which remained shut due to the pandemic.
