Mumbai, Dec 14: Counting of votes for three Municipal Councils/Nagar Panchayats was underway in Maharashtra on Thursday. Voting for second phase of Maharashtra Municipal Council Elections was held in Nandurbar, Wada and Navapur on Wednesday, December 13. Counting for these three local bodies is being held today.
Election to 10 municipal councils was being held in three phases. While some of the councils went to polls on December 10 in the first phase, polling in some others was held on Wednesday. The last phase of the polls will be held on Sunday, December 17 for Dahanu, Javhar and Taloda.
An analysis of the affidavits of 836 candidates, out of the total 869 in fray for the ongoing polls in 10 municipal councils in Maharashtra, has revealed that 87 of them were facing criminal cases, including some serious charges like murder, rape, kidnapping and dacoity.
Besides these, bypolls for four councils- Ambejogai, Shahada, Mangurlpir and Jintur – were also being held simultaneously. Meanwhile, counting was also underway for Thane Zilla Parishad Elections 2017. Get Live updates on Thane results here.
Counting was also underway for bypolls in two wards of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporations.

The BJP has claimed to have won six out of ten municipal councils or Nagar Panchayats in the state of Maharashtra. With this win, the BJP has now got the maximum number of councillors elected.
Amravati: Congress wins Chikhaldara Nagar Pallika (Municipal Council). Congress’s Vijaya Somvanshi wins Chairperson’s post. Congress 13, BJP 4.
Kolhapur: Results of Hupli Municipal Council
Aurangabad: BJP’s Suhas wins post of President of Nagar Panchayat.
BJP has won Shindkheda Nagar Panchayat. BJP won 9 out of 17 wards here while the Congress won 6. The Samajwadi Party won 2 wards.
