Kolhapur, Feb 16: A woman constable was on Thursday caught for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 300. When caught, she tried to chew and swallow the bribe money, an official informed today. The incident was reported from Chandgad police station in Kolhapur, Western Maharashtra.

“Dipali Khadke, a woman police constable posted at Chandgad police station, was caught accepting a bribe of Rs 300 from a 28-year-old complainant,” the official was quoted as saying by DNA. The complainant had submitted an application to obtain a character certificate for a passport.

After the woman constable demanded a sum of money, the 28-year-old victim approached the ACB’s Kolhapur unit and lodged a complaint against the woman constable. Reacting to the complaint, a trap was laid at the police station’s record room on Thursday.

When the constable realised that she has been caught, she put the money in her mouth and started chewing, the official added.

“The ACB sleuths were shocked to see this, but one of the women constables acted swiftly and opened her mouth and recovered the currency notes,” the official said. The ACB managed to recover the half-torn money as an evidence.
