New Delhi: In a tragic incident, a portion of bridge collapsed in South Kolkata’s Majherhat area on Tuesday, toppling several vehicles and trapping people in the rubble. As per eyewitness accounts five people are feared to be dead but an official confirmation is still awaited. Reacting to the incident, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said,”The collapse of a part of a bridge in Kolkata is deeply unfortunate. My thoughts are with the families of the victims. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said the first priority is to rescue the injured and those who are trapped.
