Mamata Banerjee fumes over arrest of Sudip Bandhopadhyay, says Narendra Modi, Amit Shah should be arrested first

Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday slammed Amit Shah, Narendra Modi over demonetisation move and said both of them should be arrested.

Kolkata, Jan 3: West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday fumed over the arrest of Trinamool Congress Lok Sabha MP Sudip BandyopadhyayMamata said, “If they (government) think that after the arrest Sudip Bandhopadhyay we won’t protest, they are wrong”. She further added saying that she will take the legal battle forward and will seek justice from the court.

West Bengal Chief Minister said, “We strongly condemn the political vindictive attitude of Narendra Modi and Amit Shah. For no reasons arrests have been made. Only reason is demonetisation”. Mamata said both, the Prime Minister and Amit Shah should be arrested. Mamata Banerjee claimed that the Prime Minister does not understand Indian politics. In her statement to ANI, Mamata said that people should come out on roads against demonetisation move because it is people who will teach them a lesson.

Mamata Banerjee said she will protest over arrest of TMC MP Sudip Bandhopadhyay tomorrow and on 9 January, she will continue her protest in 10 states on demonetisation. On 9th January, Mamata will hold protest outside RBI Kolkata and on 10th and 11th January in Delhi. The West Bengal Chief Minister is scheduled to hold meeting with TMC MPs at party headquarter at 5 PM today.

TMC MP Bandyopadhyay has been arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for his involvement in Rs 60,000 Cr Rose Valley group chit fund scam. Moreover, another Trinamool Congress MPs, Tapas Pal was arrested by the CBI on December 30, for his  involvement in “financial transactions” with the Rose Valley chit fund organisation.

While speaking in Haldia on Monday, Mamata termed Modi as a dictator and said its the ‘End of Demonetisation and start of DeModitisation”. She claimed that all industrial sectors in Bengal are facing turmoil because of demonetisation including the  MSME sector. She slammed the governmet over demonetisation and said employers are unable to pay workers because of the lack of cash. “How does this cashless idea work? Even the United States is only 40 per cent cashless, Germany is 60 per cent cashless. And yet, in India, where 92 per cent of the economy works through cash transactions, we are trying to go completely cashless,’’ she said at an event in Haldia.

Earlier in December, Mamata Banerjee had accused the Centre of resorting to vendetta politics after her party MP Sudip Bandopadhyay was asked by the CBI to appear before it in connection with the Rose Valley chit fund ‘scam’.
