New Delhi: Targeting opposition leaders gathered at the mega rally organised in Kolkata, Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on Saturday said that their only agenda is to remove Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Talking to news agency ANI, Prasad said, “Those who could not see eye to eye have come together and from the speech it was evident that their only agenda is to remove Narendra Modi, they have no future road-map for the development of India.”
He further said, “Someone said in a very funny manner that our leader will be elected by the people of India, you have to name your leader to be elected by the people of India. Rahul Gandhi, Mayawati, Mamata Ji and some regional players too, all have PM‘s ambition .”
His comment came after SP chief Akhilesh Yadav had said that public will decide who will be our PM. “We ask you who failed you, who upset the country and its people, who played dirty games and spread hatred, it’s the BJP. When they promised sabka saath sabka vikas, they tried to poison your society. Modi’s message is a message of hate,” Yadav had said while addressing the rally.
Taking swipe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee had asserted that the “expiry date” of the Modi government is over and a united opposition will win the coming general elections.
Criticising the BJP, she had said, “There is courtesy in politics, but BJP does not follow it. Those who are not with BJP are called thieves.”
Banerjee also claimed that the BJP does not give respect to many of its own senior leaders and people like Rajnath Singh, Sushma Swaraj and Nitin Gadkari are ignored in the saffron party.
Earlier in the day, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convener Arvind Kejriwal had said, “Mamata didi has called all non-BJP parties as the Modi-Shah jodi (duo) is very dangerous and the country needs to be saved from them. They should be defeated at any cost in forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.”
DMK President MK Stalin had said the “only goal” of all the secular parties is to throw out the Narendra Modi government at the Centre in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, which will be the “country’s second freedom struggle” and only option to save the nation by defeating BJP with a united opposition front.
