Narrating her ordeal, the victim, who is a resident of Gurugram, claimed that she was sitting inside the train while returning home when she first saw a man staring at her and committing the shameful act. Later she took the incident to micro-blogging site Twitter and narrated the entire episode in a series of tweets. She said that she tried to reach out to the police personnel and women’s helpline but was diverted to different stations every time.

Replying to her Twitter thread, in all of which she tagged DMRC and Delhi Police, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation said, “Hi, the matter is being looked into. However, in such cases, passengers are requested to report the matter immediately to us at 155370 (DMRC helpline) and 155655(CISF Helpline) or contact the nearest Metro official so that immediate action can be taken.”

The metro police have registered the case and are making efforts to identify the accused.
