Delhi, May 28: An E-Rickshaw driver in Delhi was beaten to death after he tried to stop two men from urinating in public. The deceased identified as Ravinder Kumar, a parking attendant and an E-Rickshaw driver working at a stand in North-West Delhi, died at a local hospital. He was beaten up by a group of men on Thursday.
According to NDTV, Ravindra Kumar had raised objections after he saw two men urinating on the road near his e-rickshaw stand, his family members said in a statement given to police officials. The men then got angry and threatened to teach him a lesson. The same evening, the two men again came back in the evening with a gang and beat him up, said his brother Vijender Kumar.
The 34-year-old victim then went to his home without any visible injury on his body and informed his family about the incident. But in the night, Ravindra Kumar fell unconscious and complained about chest pain. The family then rushed him to the hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival. After recording statements of some eye-witnesses the cops have filed a case and a hunt has been launched by the cops.
A senior police official from a local police station said that police teams have been formed to arrest them and investigations are on.
However it is not illegal to urinate in pubic but there has been a major thrust on sanitation following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Clean India campaign. In last three years, toilets across the country have been built and awareness regarding sanitation have been held across Inda.
The Narendra Modi government which completed three years last week, said 2.09 crore toiles have been built across the country so far.
