Pune, Jan 8: A 58-year-old managing director of a Pune-based industrial group was arrested for stalking and sexually harassing a female employee working in the company. The police released him on bail as he was unwell. The 34-year-old complainant registered a complaint against the man on Tuesday night. Her statement was recorded before action against the accused. The managing director was allegedly sending objectionable text messages to the woman ever since she joined the firm. She lodge an official complaint against the accused with the company’s panel that looks after such cases and deals with them internally. However after inaction, she decided to approach the police. The victim alleged that she had sent emails to her superiors and the company’s anti-harassment panel, who took no action against the accused. No action was taken against the accused, but the woman was given an offer to get transferred to a different office. She said that the HR department assured that action will be taken against the man. She said she had no issues with the company, but wanted against against the MD. She furnished evidence to the police of the accused’s inappropriate behaviour.
