New Delhi, July 11: A chargesheet was filed by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Madhya Pradesh police in the Mandsaur gangrape case which stated that the accused used at least 50 different objects in an attempt to kill the 8-year-old on June 26. The 350-page chargesheet was filed against the two accused– Irfan alias Bhaiyu and Asif. The accused allegedly slit the throat of the victim in an attempt to kill her after having abducted and raped her.
All these evidences have been mentioned in the chargesheet which contains at least 100 documents and statements of 92 witnesses, including doctors. The accused have been charged with Section 376 (d) (gangrape), Section 366 (kidnapping, abducting or inducing woman to compel her marriage), Section 363 (kidnapping) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The SIT filed the charge sheet in the special additional district session’s court yesterday.
Both the accused were not brought to the court and were informed about the chargesheet through video-conferencing. Besides filing the chargesheet, efforts are being undertaken to fast-track the case. As per PTI, Deputy Director of Prosecution BS Thakur said they would make every effort so that the trial of the case ends within a month. Meanwhile, Superintendent of Police Manoj Singh said, “With the filing of the charge sheet, decks have been cleared for the day-to-day hearing of the case in the court.” It is being said that the prosecution will seek death penalty for both the accused.
The 8-year-old is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Indore at present. Doctors said that her condition is improving.
