New Delhi, June 30: Expressing anguish over the horrific gangrape of 8-year-old girl in Madhya Pradesh’s Mandsaur, Congress President Rahul Gandhi asked people to come together and protect the children from such lecherous people. Gandhi tweeted,”In Mandsaur, MP, an 8-year-old girl was kidnapped and gang-raped, and is battling for her life. The brutality this young child was subjected to sickens me. Echoing similar sentiments, Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia too expressed distress over the appalling incident and demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) enquiry for the same. Scindia said that the investigation wasn’t moving in the right direction.

The condition of the minor victim is relatively improving but she is traumatised, said the doctors. The doctors at the MY Hospital, Indore said that the girl is currently on a liquid diet and a team of five doctors is monitoring her health.

Meanwhile, protests intensified in the city in the past couple of days. While there was a bandh in Mandsaur on Thursday, Neemuch was shut down yesterday. Protests were seen in Pipliyamandi, Garoth, Naryanpura, Jaora, Indore, Dewas and Agar-Malwa where people demanded capital punishment for the perpetrator of the crime. As per local media reports, the Muslim community, led by the local Imam, too marched to the collectorate to protest against the crime and demanded capital punishment saying the accused have no religion.
