Panaji: Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar health condition is ‘absolutely stable’, state Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said on Sunday. His statement came amid reports which claimed that the former defence minister is on life support system.
“Goa CM Manohar Parrikar’s condition is absolutely stable.Wrong information being provided on social media. Yesterday we had thorough check up of CM, today he had minor discomfort. Doctors have suggested to keep him under observation for another day or so,” Rane was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
A similar statement was issued by a senior state minister, Vijai Sardesai, as well. Speaking to reporters on Saturday, he had said, “Chief Minister’s condition was not ‘as bad as it is being projected’. News is doing rounds that he is on life support but he is not.”
Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar was on Saturday admitted to Goa Medical College and Hospital in Bambolim, He has been taken to the hospital for upper GI endoscopy. He will continue to remain under observation for around two days.
“Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar taken to Goa Medical College for upper GI endoscopy. His health condition continues to be stable. He will remain there under observation for around 48 hours,” Goa Chief Minister’s Office had said in a statement on Saturday.
The 63-year-old Chief Minister is suffering from a pancreatic ailment and has been recuperating at his private residence at Dona Paula near Panaji since October 14 last year.
