Japanese company Suzuki has unveiled the new generation model of its multi-purpose vehicle (MPV), Suzuki Ertiga, at the ongoing Indonesia Motor Show. Since the company brings the model in India with name Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, it could be launched in the country this year. The new model has a number of changes as far as the design language is concerned, and many other changes under the hood.
It is based on the new-generation Heartect platform, which is larger and lighter. This has been a feature of company’s new models in India including Baleno, Dzire and Swift. The wheelbase remains the same, but the new model has become wider and longer than the first gen Ertiga.
The front of the vehicle has a new grille, chrome finish and new sleek headlamps. The bumpers are redesigned and the side-profile has been completely changed as well. Tail lamps are D-pillar and are L-shaped.
The Maruti Sukuzi Ertiga has noticeable changes on the inside as well. It has a dual tone upholstery, new instrument cluster and a 6.8-inch touchscreen system. While the Indonesian model may not have an auto climate control feature, the MPV may have the feature in the Indian version.
As far as the engine is concerned, the new car has a new 1.5-litre petrol engine in Indonesia with 104 PS of power. The engine is mated to a five-speed automatic gearbox. The Indian version may have a 1.4-litre engine. The diesel engine may have a 1.3-litre Multijet engine.
