New Delhi, Feb 25: The Election Commission will conduct assembly elections in Meghalaya on February 27. The results of polls will be announced on March 3 in the north-eastern state. The assembly constituency is likely to witness a tough fight between regional parties. The seat was retained by Brolding Nongsiej who won the seat by securing 7786 votes. He defeated his nearest rival Fenella Lyngdoh Nonglait of HSPDP. Pios Kurbah, Brolding Nongsiej and Biolinda L.Nonglait are the candidates fielded by Congress, UDP and HSPDP respectively. Nongstoin assembly constituency

Nongstoin assembly had witnessed a fight between the Congress and Hill State People’s Democratic Party in previous assembly elections. The seat was won by Congress candidate Diosstarness Jyndiang of HSPDP who secured 11189 in 2013 elections. Arphul Kharbani, Gabriel Wahlang and Diosstarness Jyndiang are the candidates fielded by BJP, Congress and HSPDP respectively.

Rambrai Jyrngam assembly constituency

Rambrai Jyrngam assembly seat is likely to witness a multi-party fight in upcoming polls on February. The seat was won by HSPDP candidate Phlastingwell Pangniang who secured 7625 votes. Sumis N Marak, Kimfa Sidney Marbaniang and K Phlastingwell Pangniang are the candidates fielded by BJP, Congress and HSPDP.

Mawshynrut assembly constituency

The Mawshynrut seat had witnessed a traditional fight between the Congress and HSPDP. The seat was won by Witting Mawsor who secured 6778 votes in previous assembly elections.

Ranikor assembly constituency

Ranikor seat has been witnessing two party fight between the Congress and HSPDP. Congress candidate Martin M. Danggo had won seat by defeating his nearest rival UDP’s Probin K. Raswai. Pelcy Snaitang, Martin M. Danggo and Pius Marwein are the candidates fielded by BJP, Congress and UDP respectively.
