Mayawati in Ghaziabad: Will not build statues if voted to power

Luring voters, Mayawati said that poor and weaker section of the society will get direct cash incentives for expenditure on their most basic needs.

Ghaziabad, Feb 8: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati on Tuesday assured voters that if her party will be voted to power in upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections 2017, they will focus on development of the state rather than building monuments, statues and museums..

The former Chief Minister said this while addressing a jam-packed campaign at Ghaziabad on Tuesday.

Luring voters, Mayawati said that poor and weaker section of the society will get direct cash incentives for expenditure on their most basic needs.

“For local developmental issues of Gautam Budh Nagar, Ghaziabad and Hapur, we will allocate whatever sum can be earmarked from the government treasury,” she said.

The BSP chief lambasted Samajwadi Party (SP)  for a poor law and order track record during their five year tenure. She held SP responsible for 2013 Muzaffarnagar riots, the Dadri lynching, Bulandshahr rape case and Mathura encroachment. Mayawati assured that the hooliganism of SP will end if  voted to power again.

Taking potshots at the ongoing fight inside the ruling party, ‘BehenJi’ said that SP’s captive vote bank has already been divided between the two factions of Akhilesh and Shivpal.

Mayawati also attacked Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for allegedly planning to stop caste-based reservation. She claimed that BJP is trying to impose RSS-based ideology all over the country. Hitting out at PM Modi,  Mayawati said that he had not fulfilled even a single promise made by him during last Parliament elections.

She also attacked Congress party saying despite the fact they ruled it for 37 years post-independence nothing has been changed in the state.

Uttar Pradesh will go to polls in seven phases beginning from February 11. The last phase of polls in the state will be held on March 8. The counting of votes is scheduled to happen on March 11.
