New Delhi, April 19: It is just days to go before the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections and politics is heating up in the national capital. However, some violence is also being reported amidst the battle for MCD. Aam Aadmi Party MLA Amanatullah Khan was on Tuesday reportedly attacked by 3 men, who allegedly fired gunshots at him at midnight. The incident happened at Jamia Nagar’s Batla area. The area falls under the Okhla constituency.

Khan has blamed the Congress for the attack. He has claimed that three Congress workers on a motorcycle fired shots at him and fled the scene. He has also claimed that he was talking to a police officer when the attack took place. Khan has claimed that there was a heated argument between Congress and AAP workers in the area while campaigning for the MCD elections and the attack came following the clash. A probe is now on into the allegations made by Khan.

Voting for the MCD will take place on April 23 while counting of votes will be done on April 26. The Aam Aadmi Party, the Bharatiya Janata Party, the Swaraj India and the Congress are going all out to woo voters ahead of the polls. The fate of the candidates fielded by these parties will be sealed on Sunday.
