New Delhi, April, 18: Polling for the 272 wards for the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections is scheduled for April 23. Out of the 272 wards, Punjabi Bagh comes under Ward no 2 of South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC). With few days left for the MCD elections, major political parties have started to campaigning aggressively. For the MCD elections 2017, Punjabi Bagh ward is reserved for scheduled caste candidates. As per the 2012 MCD polls, BJP had conquered the seat by winning 18581 votes.
In the 2017 MCD polls, major parties including Congress, BJP and Aam Aadmi Party will be contesting in Punjabi Bagh. Apart from the major three parties, the debutant Swaraj India, founded by former AAP member Yogendra Yadav will also be contesting from the Punjabi Bagh ward.
Punjabi Bagh ward comes under SDMC and the election is scheduled on April 23 and its result will be declared on April 26. Total population for voting in Punjabi Bagh ward is 49968 and from that 10220 are from scheduled caste community. Candidates for Punjabi Bagh ward are Jay Prakash Punwar from Indian National Congress, Kailash Sakla from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Khajan Singh from Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

Satwinder Kaur Sirsa from Bharatiya Janata Party won pride on by 18581 seats were Prem Suresh Yadav from Indian National Congress garbed second place their after Ruheen, Puja Khanna, Meenu Singh from Indian National Congress, Samajwadi Party and Others respectively placed in MCD election 2012.

In 2012 MCD poll BJP had celebrated the victory by winning 148 seats from 104 were Congress placed on 2nd in the winning list and as per the listing BSP got 15 seats and Others set by 35.

From 104 seats BJP huddles 44 seats in South municipal corporation. For MCD Election 2017 BJP had planned their new faces in front of other contestants.

As per the ABP News opinion poll for the MCD Elections 2017, BJP will win again, 34 per cent of Delhi residents are in favour of BJP, while 26 per cent of voters is supporting the AAP and Congress will egress by 17 per cent.
