New Delhi, Mar 28: At the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)’s mega convention in Delhi ahead of MCD Elections 2017, party president Amit Shah took a jibe at the Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal saying that the BJP hasn’t even completed a week in Uttar Pradesh and Kejriwal is already asking for their report card. Amit Shah also reminded Arvind Kejriwal that the BJP will fulfill its promises in Uttar Pradesh but what about the promises the CM made to Delhi.
“I saw Arvind Kejrwal’s press conference before coming here. He said BJP promised loans waiver for farmers. We haven’t even finished one week in UP and he is already asking for our report card,” Shah said. He added that Kejriwal had made hefty promises of making 20 new Universities, Unified Transport Authority, women security in Delhi but the Delhi govt failed to keep up to the promises he made two years ago. He also asked the party workers to reach out to people with these promises.
In the address, Shah also accused AAP of corruption in Delhi. He said, “No other party has done more corruption in last few years than the Aam Aadmi Party.”
Taking on the Delhi chief minister, Amit Shah added that Kejriwal has made a record with a list of political failures. “AAP leaders are caught in molestation cases and corrupt practices but Kejriwalji compares them to Mahatma Gandhi. Today, 13 of his MLAs are involved in criminal cases but he hasn’t given any answers to people of Delhi. If there is any shame left in him, he should give an answer to Delhi people before campaigning for MCD polls,” Shah said.
Listing out the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s promises, Shah said, “We had promised economic development of the country and today India is the fastest growing economy in the world. PM Modi promised electricity in villages and 16,000 new villages have electricity in last three years. BJP has introduced so many new initiatives like Digital India, Make in India etc. We have fulfilled all our promises. Delhi is India’s heart but there is a white spot there. We are not contesting these elections to win but to lay foundation for the next Lok Sabha election.”
Speaking at the mega convention, Amit Shah said that the real reason for the victory of BJP in Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections was the party’s workers. “In 2014, the country was in a poor condition but BJP changed everything under the leadership of Narendra Modi. The way he ran the government, no one can point a finger at him.”
The mega convention at Ramlila Ground was attended by 65,000 party workers. Before the event, BJP Delhi chief Manoj Tiwari had said that Amit Shah’s “interactive session” will enthuse the party workers. “Booth-level workers are at the very core of the BJP’s electoral success and its connect with the masses across the states. Five in-charges from each booth will be present at the convention,” Tiwari said.
Tiwari also took a jibe at at Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party convener Arvind Kejriwal, Tiwari said that the historic ground (Ramlila Maidan) has been misused by a few people in the past. “Some people have only misused the historic ground (Ramlila Maidan) in the past,” PTI quoted him as saying.
