New Delhi, Apr 22: Geeta Colony ward falls under East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC). Ward number 024-E, Geeta Colony is currently represented by Independent candidate Bansi Lal. The ward will see a tough competition between three political parties – the BJP, Congress and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). The Geeta Colony ward falls under the Krishna Nagar Assembly constituency.
The total population of Geeta Colony is 54,751 out of which the Scheduled Caste population is 6,257.
In 2012 MCD elections, Independent candidate Bansi Lal had won from Geeta Colony ward. This year, the BJP has fielded Neema Bhagat and against her, Congress candidate Anu will fight it out to win the Geeta Colony ward. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has fielded Pooja Chabra from Geeta Colony ward of the EDMC.

In 2012, the ward was won by Independent candidate Bansi Lal whereas, Satish Verma of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) came second with 4,661 votes. Indian National Congress candidate Vijay Kumar came third in 2012 MCD elections from the Geeta Colony ward. Total number of votes polled during the MCD Elections 2012 were 25,213.

The MCD Elections conducted in 2007 in Geeta Colony ward witnessed the victory of BJP candidate Neema Bhagat. She had secured 8,543 votes. The second spot was gained by Indian National Congress candidate Praveen Kumari. BSP candidate Rani stood third in the MCD Elections 2007 with 590 votes.
