New Delhi: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Thursday approved the entitlement of air travel for security forces on the Delhi-Srinagar, Srinagar-Delhi, Jammu-Srinagar and Srinagar-Jammu sectors with immediate effect, in wake of the Pulwama terror attack.

The MHA says this decision will benefit nearly 7,80,000 personnel of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) in the ranks of constable, head constable and ASIs- who were not eligible for air travel earlier. This facility will now include journey on duty and leave (While going on leave from Jammu and Kashmir and on return).

This development comes a week after Jaish-e-Mohammad engineered a dastardly terror attack in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district that claimed the lives of 40 CRPF personnel. A 78-bus convoy was travelling on the Jammu-Srinagar Highway on February 14, when an explosive-laden SUV rammed one of the buses and killed all security personnel on-board.

This new addition will enhance the existing air courier service for the central paramilitary force- which is used to ferry security personnel from Jammu and Kashmir and the Northeast to Delhi and back.

On the other hand, Zee News sources today reported that an IED blast, similar to one carried out in Pulwama on February 14, is being planned in areas of routes of Chowkibal and Tangdhar convoys in coming two days.

According to intel inputs, the Pakistan-based terror group Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) is planning the next attack on security forces in a green-colour Scorpio car. Sources further revealed that guns, grenades and RDX is being brought into Indian territory from across the border to carry out the attack.

The intercepts picked up by the agencies also revealed that JeM is likely to release videos of preparations for the Pulwama suicide bombing attack.
