Mumbai: The state housing board Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (Mhada’s) lottery for 1,384 apartments began 10.00 AM Sunday. The result is out now and the same has been uploaded on Mhada’s official website. The results were announced at 6.00 PM. People are advised to check the site time and again as it may take some time to open due to heavy rush. Shiv Sena Shakha Pramukh from Agripada, Vinod Shirke, bagged two of the costliest apartments in the MHADA lottery – one worth Rs 4.99 crores and the other costing Rs 5.8 crores, thus becoming one of the luckiest among the total 80 applicants who were in the race for these flats. It must be noted that though Shirke got two flats, he will be allowed to keep only one of them (one of his choice), as per the law. Mhada spokesperson confirmed, “An individual winner gets only one apartment. And as per the I-T Act, a family is classified as a unit of husband, wife and minor children. So between them, they can only keep one flat in the lottery. The other costly flat, worth Rs 5.13 crores, was won by Akhtar Said Mohammad. All these three costliest flats are located in Dhavalgiri building near August Kranti Maidan.
The other winners of the lottery are named respectively. Tadvi family based in Titwala won three houses while MHADA worker Samar Pakhare, Maharashtra government employee Trupti Kharat, and one Prajakta Khadye also won in the Mhada lottery 2018.
MHADA and state government employees have a quota in the MHADA lottery, which also has a quota for other categories including journalists.
A total of 989 homes are up for sale under the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and Lower Income Group (LIG) category, while 210 flats are for the middle-income Group (MIG) section. Applicants also had a chance to apply for 194 flats which fell under the Higher Income Group (HIG) category.
The MHADA houses that are up for in the lottery are situated at Antop Hill, Gavanpada in Mulund, Pratiksha Nagar in Sion, Siddharth Nagar at Goregaon, Magathane in Borivali, Mahavir Nagar at Kandivali, Shailendra Nagar in Dahisar, Tunga in Powai, Sahakar Nagar in Chembur, Cumballa Hill, Charkop, Kannamwar Nagar at Vikhroli, Lower Parel and Matunga.
The process of the declaration of the MHADA lottery results 2018 is being monitored by state housing minister Prakash Mehta and housing board president Uday Samant. Officials have installed large screens at MHADA’s headquarters in Kala Nagar for applicants to check the lottery results.
