Indian-American favorite Mindy Kaling and Bollywood turned Hollywood sweetheart Priyanka Chopra have made it to the acting’s earning elite in the Forbes 2016 list of TV’s highest-paid actresses.

The list features earnings from actresses, from broadcast television, cable networks or a streaming service, between June 2015 and June 2016.

This year, “The Mindy Project” star Mindy Kaling, 37, claimed the third spot from eighth with $15 million earnings thanks to her salary from her show and as well as her high-profile book deal.

Earlier this year Kaling made a remark about Hollywood’s pay gap at the 41st Gracie Awards.

“For years and years, the role of the lead actress on a sitcom was to do two things: look amazing and to make one-third of what my male co-star makes,” Kaling said. “So I want to be clear, I do always look amazing on the show, and no man on my show makes more money than me.”

Bollywood star and “Quantico” lead actress Priyanka Chopra notched a No. 8 spot with exactly $11 million. This is her first appearance on the list. Chopra, who will be seen in a negative role in the highly anticipated film “Baywatch,” edged out “The Good Wife” star Julianna Margulies with $10.5 million and “Modern Family” actress Julie Bowen with $10 million earnings.

For the fifth time in a row, “Modern Family” star Sofia Vergara topped the list with $43 million over the last year. At number 2, she was followed by Kaley Cuoco of “The Big Bang Theory” with earned $24.5 million.

Combined, the world’s 15 highest paid TV actresses earned a whopping $208.5 million – $43.5 million more than last year’s combined total of $165 million.

In another list released by Forbes last month our very own mastani, Deepika Padukone debuted as one of the world’s highest-paid actresses with $10 million. The Bangalore-bred actress is the only newcomer and only Indian star to make the cut with hits like “Bajirao Mastani” and “Piku.”

Forbes said, Padukone who made her Bollywood debut in 2007 with Shah Rukh Khan-starrer “Om Shanti Om,” has since starred in several films that have crossed the $150 million mark “a barometer for box office success in India.”

Kaling will be seen on the big-screen alongside Sandra Bullock, Anne Hathaway and more in the women’s reboot of “Oceans Eleven.”

Both Padukone and Chopra’s earnings are not purely for their cinematic projects as both compensate with their lucrative endorsements. Chopra recently signed a seven-figure deal with sparkling juice brand Appy Fizz.

This has also helped them hedge the deep gender pay gap in Bollywood to some extent.
