Kolkata, Sept 14: A minor fire broke out at the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose airport here on Thursday. The blaze erupted at Terminal 12 of airport. Two fire tenders were rushed to the spot to contain the situation.

The fire was brought under control shortly. No major damage to property was reported.

“The operations at the airport were not affected and no one was injured due to the fire that broke out at 4.15 p.m. in one of the UPS rooms near boarding gate number 12,” Airport Director Atul Dikshit said in a press release.

 “The fire was put out immediately and smoke exhausts used to remove smoke from the building,” he said.

The official said the International Security Hold Area at the airport was immediately evacuated as a precaution while boarding continued through the remote boarding gates after the incident.

“Primary investigation shows the fire may have been caused by damage to a capacitor in one of the air-conditioning machines in the room,” the official said.
