    Mira Bhayander Municipal Corporation Election Results: The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) swept Mira Bhayander Municipal Corporation election by winning 61 out of the 95 seats. Shiv Sena came at a distant second with 22 seats in its bag, while the Congress lagged behind by winning 10 seats. The NCP that had won 27 seats in 2012 failed to open its account. Two independent candidates also won the election.

The BJP has won 47 out of the 95 seats so far in Mira Bhayander Municipal Corporation election. Shiv Sena, the old ally of BJP, bagged nine seats, while the Congress could win just six seats. The NCP that won 27 seats in the 2012 election is yet to open its account. The election results of 64 out of the 95 seats have been declared so far. Mumbai, Aug 21: The results of Mira Bhayander Municipal Corporation (MBMC) election will be declared today. Counting of votes for the election results of Mira Bhayander Municipal Corporation is expected to begin at 10:00 am. Polling for the 94 of the 95 seats of Mira Bhayander Municipal Corporation took place amid heavy rains on Sunday. A four-cornered electoral battle was seen between the Shiv Sena, BJP, Congress and NCP. We will be updating live on Mira Bhayander Municipal Corporation (MBMC) election results.

As many as 509 candidates of various parties contested the election for 95 seats of the Mira Bhayander Municipal Corporation. The Congress has won one seat after one of its candidates was elected unopposed. The polling had been low-key due to heavy rains. “The average voting percentage for MBMC elections is 47 per cent. Counting will start on Monday morning and results will be declared by evening,” JS Saharia, state election commissioner was quoted as saying. In 2012, the turnout was 46.99 per cent.

The Mira Bhayander Municipal Corporation is currently ruled by the Sena-BJP combine. Before this, the MBMC was a Congress-NCP bastion. Today the civic body has the highest number of BJP corporators and an MLA in Narendra Mehta from Mira Bhayandar.
