Mumbai, Aug 21: Counting of votes for the results of Mira Bhayander Municipal Corporation (MBMC) election is underway. Polling for the 94 of the 95 seats of Mira Bhayander Municipal Corporation was held amid heavy rains on Sunday. The contest is between Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Shiv Sena, Congress and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) in the Mira Bhayander Municipal Corporation election. Below is the list of winning candidates of Mira Bhayander Municipal Corporation. Around 47 per cent of voters cast their votes in Mira Bhayander Municipal Corporation election held on Sunday. The BJP-Shiv Sena combine is currently ruling the Mira Bhayander Municipal Corporation, which was once considered a Congress-NCP bastion. The Congress has won one seat after one of its candidates was elected unopposed. In 2012 Mira Bhayander Municipal Corporation election, the BJP had won 29 seats, while the NCP came in second with 27 seats. The Congress and Shiv Sena bagged 19 and 14 seats respectively. Raj Thackeray’s MNS had managed to win just one seat.
