New Delhi, March 27: A day after Indian cricketer Mohammed Shami suffered a head injury in road mishap, his estranged wife Hasin Jahan said she wanted to meet the pacer. Talking to reporters, Jahan said,”My fight is against what he has done to me. But I do not want him to get hurt physically. He may not want me as a wife anymore. But I still feel for him and love him because he is my husband,” adding “I will pray to the God that he recovers quickly.”
She said she was eager to meet Shami along with their daughter but all her attempts to contact him over phone went “unanswered”. “I have been trying to get in touch with my husband. But he is not responding to my calls to his phone. Even his family members were not telling me where he is currently located. I feel helpless,” she added.
On March 24, Shami’s car collided with a truck while he was travelling from Dehradun to New Delhi. He suffered injuries and got a few stitches on his head. (Also Read: Mohammad Shami Did Not Get ‘Injured’ in Road Accident: Reports)
However, Dehradun Police refuted the reports of Shami’s accident saying he did not get ‘injured’ in a road mishap. “The cricketer was not in the car when the accident happened. Shami was part of the convoy but he was not inside the car which met with the accident,” Dilwar Singh, Station Officer of Dehradun’s Clement Town police station told Indian Express.
Shami was at the centre of controversy following a series of accusations made by his wife Hasin Jahan. He was booked under various non-bailable, including attempt to murder, and bailable sections of the Indian Penal Code after Jahan’s complaint to the police of domestic violence and infidelity against him.
