Monsoon Session 2020: Amid precautions against COVID-19, the monsoon session of parliament resumed for the fifth day. Earlier on Thursday, the Lok Sabha witnessed stormy scenes after it passed the Farmers Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill and the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Bill.

Opposing the bills, Congress MPs staged a protest in front of Mahatma Gandhi’s statue in Parliament Complex and raised slogans against the government. On the other hand, Harsimrat Kaur Badal, the Shiromani Akali Dal’s (SAD) lone minister in the Narendra Modi government resigned, displaying her opposition to the three agriculture-related bills.
