New Delhi, July 2: A four-year-old girl was allegedly raped in Madhya Pradesh’s Satna district on Sunday. The police have arrested the 28-year-old accused. The victim was said to have been admitted to hospital in a critical condition. A case has been registered under section 376 of IPC and POCSO Act, Rajesh Hingankar, SP Satna, said, news agency ANI reported.

According to the police, the minor was found in a bad shape in Parasmania area of the district. The accused, identified as Mahendra Singh, had taken away the child when she was sleeping in the courtyard of her house. After committing rape, when Singh felt that the minor had died due to the excesses, he dumped her body at a secluded place close to Unchehara Police Station of Satna district.

The Satna rape case has come days after an eight-year-old girl was abducted from her school in Hafiz Colony and allegedly gang-raped in Mandsaur. The girl was found the next morning walking around and alerted others.

“The girl was found near Lakshman Darwaza on Wednesday morning around 10 AM. The girl was found with injuries all over her body. She was raped. We rushed her to a nearby hospital, but she was later referred to Indore for further treatment,” Mandsaur SP Manoj Singh told reporters.

The police said that the CCTV footage shows the girl walking away with the accused who had offered her sweets and told her that they would take her to her father who was waiting some distance away.

The family of the eight-year-old alleged that the school had dissuaded them from approaching the police when the minor didn’t return home even after the closing time of 5 PM.

“The school did not want us to approach the police either to lodge a missing person’s complaint immediately, to ensure it does not get a bad name,” the victim’s grandmother said.

Blaming the school for negligence, the family asked how could the school let her go with some strangers who later gang-raped her. The police have arrested two accused, 20-year-old Irfan Khan and 24-year-old Asif, in connection with the Mandsaur gang-rape case.

One of the accused’s father demanded strict punishment for his son if he’s found guilty. “I want a detailed probe to find if others were involved too. Which child will follow a stranger unless told by someone known?” Irfan’s father was quoted as saying.
