Mumbai: ATS arrests another alleged ISIS recruiter
Rizwan was arrested from Kalyan area of Mumbai. He was accused of brainwashing young Muslims and motivating them to join ISIS.
Mumbai, July 23: Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS) of Maharashtra has nabbed one Islamic State (ISIS) suspect from Mumbai. The accused has been identified as Rizwan Khan. His arrest was first reported on Saturday morning.
Rizwan was arrested from Kalyan area of Mumbai. He was accused of brainwashing young Muslims and motivating them to join ISIS and participate in the war on behalf of the Islamic caliphate. The arrested person, Rizwan, is stated to be native of Kerala. He was apprehended in a joint operation conducted by ATS and Kerala police. According to unverified reports, the alert to Maharashtra ATS was made by Kerala intelligence department. His custody is expected to be handed over to Kerala ATS.
This is the second arrest linked to ISIS in the past week. On Thursday, in a joint operation, Maharashtra ATS and Kerala police arrested one Arshad Qureshi from Navi Mumbai, for his alleged links to ISIS. Qureshi is also a member of radical preacher Dr Zakir Naik's outfit the Islamic Research Foundation (IRF).
