New Delhi, May 22: A woman travelling in a cab in Mumbai has alleged that she was molested inside the moving car  on Monday evening. The 25-year-old victim, a private bank employee reportedly booked a cab at around 5 PM to visit her relative’s place in Powai. The woman in her complaint said that during the journey, the driver was trying to get friendly with her. The driver also forced her to sit in the front passenger seat. Speaking to Indian Express, an official probing the incident said,”As the complainant sat on the front seat, the driver started touching her inappropriately. The woman in her complaint claimed that she was planning to confront the driver at the destination, but as the driver kept misbehaving, she confronted him mid-way and got off the cab in Hiranandani from where her friend brought the accused to the police station. The Powai police registered the case at 9 PM and arrested the 36-year-old accused under sections 354 and 354 (A) (sexual assault) of the Indian Penal Code. He will be produced in Andheri court on Tuesday.



Notably the incident came nearly 20 days after a woman travelling in an Uber cab alleged that she was sexually harassed by the driver in broad daylight. The woman had accused the driver of masturbating while she was on board and misbehaving and threatening her when she confronted him. The horrific incident took place in the Andheri East area.
