The police have recorded a case of accidental death. The police informed added that an autopsy examination will disclose the time when she died and the reason for her death. Asha’s husband Kedarnath had died in 2013. The police said that she was alone and was depressed. Sahani had her last conversation with Rituraj in April 2016 and told him that she didn’t feel like living alone any longer and was moving to an old age home. After that, Sahani and Rituraj didn’t contact each other, reported English daily Times of India.
“On Sunday, Rituraj came down to India unannounced. He reached the Lokhandwala complex in Andheri, where his mother lived, and rang the doorbell at 4.30 pm. But the door was locked from inside. He then summoned a key-maker and a hole was drilled in the door. The latch was opened through this hole. On entering inside, Rituraj found his mother’s skeleton. The body was fully dressed,” a senior police officer said. Asha Sahani’s body was sent to Siddharth Hospital’s post-mortem centre.
“In the bedroom, Rituraj found the body of his mother, which had decomposed to such an extent that only her skeleton remained. We suspect she must have passed away at least a few weeks ago,” Subhash Khanvilkar, the senior inspector told Indian Express.
