New Delhi, August 10:  Local train services on Central railway line were delayed by 15-20 minutes on Friday, following the protest called by motormen against the overtime and vacant posts. The disruption of local train services on the Central line caused big trouble for thousands of commuters during rush morning hour. If reports are to be believed, some trains even got cancelled on the Central Line.

The motormen have reportedly demanded to fill 229 vacant posts. Other important point raised by the motormen is ‘removal from service’ for Signal Passing at Danger (SPAD) cases.

Speaking to DNA, a motorman who is part of Joint Action Forum said,”We are working overtime in order to compensate for the vacant 229 posts. But now that the administration is dilly-dallying oAur demand of eliminating the punishment for SPAD cases, we have decided to indefinitely not work overtime.”

Earlier this year in March, the train services on Central line track were crippled after over 1,000 railway apprentice students carried out a ‘rail roko’ protest between Matunga Road and Dadar Station for close to four hours. . The protesters were demanding assurance that they will be given jobs in the railways. They also accused the police of having lathicharged them.
